Each of our staff members is a Registered, Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist experienced in providing medical nutrition therapy, which is science and medically-based nutrition counseling. Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) involves assessment of nutritional status, treatment in the form of evidence-based nutrition counseling, goal-setting and ongoing evaluation of a patient's progress. We promote positive behavior changes that yield lasting results--all delivered in a down-to-earth and friendly way. These skills will be incorporated into your nutrition consultations to help you achieve your goals.

Liz Patton, MS, RDN, LD

Liz is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist and the founder and owner of RDbyyourside Nutrition, LLC in Saint Louis, Missouri.  

She graduated Summa Cum Laude with both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Dietetics and Nutrition from Murray State University in Kentucky and became the Outstanding Dietetic Intern of the Year in 2006. She started practicing clinical dietetics in 2007 and has worked in various settings including acute hospital care, long-term care, outpatient offices, the WIC program and corporate campuses. She is a former Certified Diabetes Educator. 


Liz is a member of the national and local chapters of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is also a member of the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group and the Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group.

Diana K. Rice, RDN, LD

Diana is a registered dietitian who joined RDbyyourside in the fall of 2017. She is a recent transplant to St. Louis, having spent most of her career in the New York City metro area.

 

Nutrition is a second career for Diana. She studied journalism in her undergraduate program at New York University and went on to work for a handful of NYC-based publications prior to realizing her passion for nutrition and studying to become an RD. Many of the skills Diana developed as a journalist now inform her work in nutrition counseling, especially asking thoughtful questions and relying on evidenced-based information.

 

Diana earned her B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Northern Colorado and completed her dietetic internship with Cedar Crest College, where she graduated with highest commendations. After becoming an RD, Diana joined The Monday Campaigns, the non-profit behind the well-known Meatless Monday initiative. There, she worked to communicate the organization’s messages of incorporating small, meaningful changes into your daily routine and treating each new week as an opportunity to improve your health to a global audience.

Diana is especially passionate about pediatric and maternal health and she has developed and taught child and family nutrition courses for a number of organizations. At The Monday Campaigns, she was the project lead for The Kids Cook Monday, a campaign about cooking with kids and family dinners. Soon after having her first child, Diana also began working with fellow moms to help them have healthy pregnancies, feed their children well and learn to love and nourish their postpartum bodies. In early 2017, Diana founded the blog and nutrition consulting business The Baby Steps Dietitian, where she works to inspire busy parents to develop a healthy relationship with food through easy recipes, effective child feeding strategies and body positivity.

 

Diana relocated to St. Louis shortly after having her second child and is excited become involved in the St. Louis dietetics community. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Nutrition Entrepreneurs and Pediatric Nutrition dietetic practice groups.

Kelly Houston, MS, RDN, LD

Kelly is a Registered, Licensed Dietitian who joined RDbyyourside Nutrition in July 2015.


She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Biology from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. Once realizing that nutrition was her true calling, she attended Saint Louis University for her undergraduate dietetics classes and dietetic internship in order to become a dietitian. She also holds a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Alabama. 


Kelly’s passion for nutrition only intensified after the birth of her first child--starting solid foods was her favorite parenting milestone so far! She loves cooking balanced and tasty meals for her family and considers good nutrition to be a family affair. Her goal is to help people stop molehills from turning into mountains. She has a special interest in childhood and adolescent nutrition as well as prenatal and post-partum nutrition.

 

Kelly has worked in a variety of settings, from acute care hospitals, to long-term care, to outpatient settings, and has even counseled patients over the phone. She is a member of the national and local chapters of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a member of the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group, as well as the Pediatric and Women’s Health Dietetic Practice Groups.
